“…Let the Sunshine notches up its first chuckle in less than 30 seconds without a word being spoken. This play’s scale, its themes and its humour are a perfect fit. … a muchanticipated return to the stage.” - Sydney Morning Herald

Award winning Australian playwright David Williamson’s play has been described as part Romeo and Juliet, part Meet the Parents. Starring Peter Phelps, Toby, a maker of hard hitting documentaries, flees Sydney in shame when the press finds out he had inadvertently used a bogus witness in his latest film. He convinces his reluctant wife Ros to travel north with him to a haven in Queensland, fondly remembered from visits in his youth.

Problem is it has now moved from a simple fishing village to a chic, upmarket, manicured playground of the wealthy and privileged. Ros meets an old school friend, Natasha, who is married to Ron, a hugely wealthy property developer. The connection between the two couples seems destined to be brief and acrimonious except for one thing. Power lawyer Emma, the daughter of Natasha, and drop out musician Rick, son of Ros, happen to meet. And then, in typical Williamson fashion, it’s on for young and old.

Peter Phelps has been one of Australia’s busiest and best-known actors. He has most recently appeared in the TV series Rescue Special Ops and in Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities and has won the AFI Award for best actor in a leading role in a TV Drama for GP (ABC TV), and the 2002 Silver Logie for Stingers.
