From Russia With Love
Presented by Macquarie Philharmonia
Sunday 7 October 3.00pm
“Join us in 2012 for electric performances of some of the world’s most beautiful and exhilarating music.” - Mark Shiell, Chief Conductor, Macquarie Philharmonia
Retuning to Dubbo for the third annual concert after the stunning success of Bellini to Broadway and The American Dream is Australia’s acclaimed 60 piece Inland Orchestra, Macquarie Philharmonia.
From Russia With Love features some of the best loved music from the Russian orchestral repertoire ranging from the dark and intriguing Night on a Bare Mountain, Mussorgsky’s tone poem about the Witches Sabbath through Tchaikovsky’s irresistibly beautiful Violin Concerto with its gorgeous melodies and rich harmonies to the fantastic and bewitching story of Scheherazade told through the dramatic and exotic music of Rimsky-Korsakov.
The Macquarie Philharmonia program will showcase the fabulous talent of our regional musicians. Under the eloquent baton of principal conductor Mark Shiell, the orchestra has developed into a musically and technically sophisticated team.
Drawing from the rich pool of talented musicians living and working in the Central West of NSW, the violin soloist for this season will be Doreen Cumming, who has played with professional orchestras across Australia as well as overseas before settling in Orange.
You are invited to enjoy the magnificent music of the Russian Masters performed by Australia’s Inland Orchestra.
“One of Australia’s most exciting orchestras. Your orchestra!” - Mark Shiell, Chief Conductor, Macquarie Philharmonia
